Snooze Hotel

I hated my stay. The staff were disrespectful, there was mould all over my room, and I found a bug in the kettle. I couldn’t sleep because staff were chatting on the phone in the middle of the night. Absolutely horrible.

We lasted 20 minutes before booking somewhere else. The rooms were shocking, with dirt splattered on the walls, dust everywhere, and what looked like mould behind the bed in one room. I took plenty of photos. I brought my mum and 14 year old daughter, and had also planned to bring my 8 year old. I’d never let my children stay somewhere like this. I wanted to upload the photos but couldn’t. I also checked the hotel’s about section again, and its claim that each room has an en suite bathroom is completely untrue. It’s just a bedroom with a bed and wardrobe. We’d paid £100 for two rooms without even a toilet, with shared bathrooms and showers, which is a rip off. When the man showed us those facilities, he was playing loud music to himself. The vibe was very off putting. The front door seemed accessible to anyone, and there was a Ring doorbell at reception for virtual check in, which I assume is used when no staff are onsite. That feels very unsafe.

It’s a budget, two star hotel. I’ve heard bad reviews, but I’ve stayed several times and think the prices are great. The rooms are fine for what you pay, and I’ve found the staff helpful. It’s in Old Corby Village, which I think is nicer than the town centre, and it’s quiet and relaxed.

I booked an en suite room for a week of work, but they put me in one with a shared bathroom. Calling the room basic is generous. At “reception” I had to call to the man asleep behind the desk several times before he woke up. He said he was very tired, then told me I’d have to pay another £110 for an en suite room, £40 less than The Saxon Crown. My partner wasn’t comfortable with me staying at the Snooze Hostel, sorry, “hotel”, especially with the street door propped open so anyone could walk in. Overpriced hostel, avoid it. Absolute pit. If I could give zero stars, I would.
