We stayed three nights while visiting family nearby, and the hotel was a lovely find. From the road, the ivy-covered old stone farmhouse and pretty grounds look beautiful. There are around a dozen rooms, a small residents’ lounge, a pleasant bar, a fantastic restaurant, and a quiet patio and garden. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a huge six-foot bed. The bathroom was great too, especially the bath, which filled faster than any I’ve used, even in a hotel. It was close to our family and also well placed for Lacock, Salisbury and other local attractions. Bath is about nine miles away, and we visited there too. The owners and staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant on our first night, choosing bar meals that were generous, tasty, beautifully cooked and presented, and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was a treat each morning: good ingredients cooked perfectly, and we looked forward to it. We highly recommend the hotel for both quality and value, and we’re already planning another visit later in the summer.

We were all very well looked after at this ideal venue for my mother-in-law’s 90th birthday. Fifty-six friends and family joined us for drinks on arrival, then a high-quality two-course sit-down meal, followed by tea, coffee, wine and speeches with sparkling wine. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was tasty with great plate appeal.

The sea bass and lamb were both delicious, and the wine was excellent. Everything was cooked to order and arrived hot. We got excellent service from the bar through to the restaurant and were well looked after. A thoroughly enjoyable meal, and we’ll dine here again.

The room was lovely, clean and fresh, with a nice view over the garden and a great power shower. Breakfast was very good, and they made an effort to sort out gluten-free food. Some of the corridors could do with refurbishment, but I’d definitely come back.

There wasn’t another diner there when we went for Saturday lunch in January, which initially gave us pause. The food soon put those doubts to rest: three excellent courses for £20 was great value. We were so full that none of us ate dinner that evening, which made it even better value. I could find small things to criticise, but that would be nitpicking. Highly recommended.
