Novotel Coventry M6/J3

My stay itself was very good, even though having to leave earlier than planned was emotionally disappointing. Under the hotel’s policy, I was charged for the full stay, and that charge clearly followed my booking conditions. I want to be fair and judge the hotel on the service I actually received. Breakfast was excellent, a proper British breakfast and the best I’ve had in the UK so far. Room 365 was clean and comfortable, quiet despite being far from the main area. The internet stayed fast and reliable, which mattered for my work, and the small gym was perfectly fine. Special thanks to Nagid at reception for being professional, kind, and very helpful. I’d definitely stay again.

I chose this place for a Saturday night off the M6, expecting somewhere to sleep before a 7am conference, not party central. I usually wouldn’t mind Saturday night noise, and I’d normally be one of the people coming in at 3am, but this was a motorway hotel and I’ve never experienced rooms with so little soundproofing. I got just four hours of sleep, waking nine times according to my Apple Watch. I could hear every step, cough, and word outside all night. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable, and the lift sounded frightening, like it might break. My first room felt grubby, with stains all over the carpets and pen marks on the curtains. I could hear a couple arguing in the adjoining room, then their toilet flush, voices, even the zip on their jeans. Their deodorant smell came under the door too. It made me uncomfortable knowing they could hear everything I did as well. When I asked to move, the staff member understood and found me another room, which I appreciated. It was quieter, but still grubby and stained, with mould in the bathroom and dust all over the kettle. I just wanted to sleep, but couldn’t. Breakfast was pretty decent with lots of choice, and the hotel was cheap. If you only need somewhere to rest for a couple of hours after a night out, it would do the job. For a proper night’s sleep, I absolutely can’t recommend it.

We had an absolutely lovely stay, and the breakfast was great too. The facilities were incredible, and from the moment we arrived the whole experience was amazing. Thank you for making our anniversary special.

The staff are what give this place its warm, down-to-earth feel. Everyone from reception to the breakfast team was friendly and helpful. It’s a standard hotel with clean rooms and useful facilities, including a bar, gym, outdoor seating area with tables, and a kids’ area. The location works well for us as a midway stop between home and London, close to the M6, with plenty of secure parking. It’s dog-friendly too, and there’s a short canal walk for stretching furry paws. Recommended.
