The lamb shank itself was good, but the service was appalling. We got our drinks, then waited over half an hour for anyone to take a food order and eventually had to find the staff ourselves. They forgot our food and seemed far too laid back about the whole thing. We were also told they didn’t start serving food until 7, even though other people nearby were already eating. No one checked back on us, and they sat us right next to the glass washer, where we got to watch the glasses being squirted through. I work in hospitality, and the basics are to take a food order after drinks and check that the meal is okay a few minutes after it arrives. I won’t be back. If all you care about is the food and not competent service, it might suit you. The quizmaster could also work on his pronunciation, since several questions sounded different when he read the answers.

We stayed the night and had a very nice breakfast. The bar has a great atmosphere, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. This pub and its hotel rooms are a real gem. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a great stay here a couple of weeks ago. The room was fine, the food was good, and the welcome made us feel right at home.

We found the White Hart online while staying with friends and their two dogs at Rother valley campsite. It was an easy choice to head down for a meal on Sunday afternoon or early evening, and we enjoyed it enough to return the next evening. Both the food and service were superb. The lovely staff went out of their way for one person in our group who is vegetarian and gluten free. Thoroughly recommend it.

Millie made our family’s evening. She was professional and always smiling, and the service she gave us was superb. I’ve eaten at some of the country’s best restaurants as a professional DJ, and the food here was excellent. Millie’s service was better than some of the best waitresses who’ve served me, my colleagues and my family. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time. If you’re visiting the area and want somewhere to eat, give the white heart a go. You won’t be disappointed.
