The George Hotel

The staff really make this place, they're brilliant, friendly and helpful. Two of the younger people at reception were especially helpful, and the gentleman looking after breakfast was great too. Breakfast was terrific, and the hotel is fantastic value. It may be getting on a bit, but it's got a certain charm. I'm always impressed and will be back again.

Since moving to Cranbrook, we've started treating the George as our local. The quiz they've recently introduced has been great for the community. Greg, the quiz master, brings loads of enthusiasm and fun, and makes sure everyone gets involved. He's attentive during the quiz, and when he serves us on our fairly regular visits, he's a very good host too.

The room was lovely and clean, and the atmosphere made for a nice lunch. We got a very friendly welcome as soon as we arrived. Our shared starter was excellent, and my husband really enjoyed the exceptional steak pie. The food was very good overall. My only personal quibble was the eggs, which seemed griddled rather than fried, leaving a brown skirt that was more cooked than I like. That didn't reflect the food in general. Would highly recommend.

A great dinner and breakfast, with really friendly and helpful staff. We had a big, clean, comfortable room and a warm welcome when we arrived. It was a wonderful stay and a perfect start to our holiday. Hope we can come back soon!
