Airport Inn Gatwick

The shuttle stops regularly right outside, which was really handy, and there’s a petrol station next door for snacks or toiletries. I liked the picnic tables and benches outside, too. I stayed because my flight was cancelled. The room was clean, though it had a bit of a strange smell. The double room was smaller than others I’ve stayed in, but I didn’t mind since I only needed somewhere to crash.

The room was clean and just comfortable enough for an emergency night’s rest. Check-in staff were warm and very helpful, though checkout was less so. There weren’t many amenities, and the restaurant food was mediocre. The bar looked welcoming and had a good range of choices, but I didn’t try it. They did have toothpaste and a blow dryer.

We only needed a place to sleep before an early flight, and it did the job. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. The early shuttle to the airport cost just £4, which was good value. The walls are very thin, though, and you can hear everything from the rooms either side. I’d recommend earplugs.

The car park was convenient, though getting around the tight turn to the barrier on the way in or out was difficult. Inside, the hotel felt very dated, even though it was quite clean. The staff weren’t especially friendly, and one person gave me incorrect information about the shuttle. My room was so hot that the air con was useless. I could only open the window a tiny amount, so it was incredibly noisy, but that was still better than being stiflingly hot all night. I’d only use this as a last resort, since there are far better hotels nearby.
