Sofitel London Gatwick

Checking our bags in the day before the flight made the travel day much easier. We went straight through security without stress in 30 minutes. The hotel's parking package was convenient and seamless on arrival, and the covered walkway directly to the North Terminal was great. The hotel also had a fabulous breakfast and high-standard rooms. Service was excellent from check-in through departure.

We were exhausted after arriving from the USA at 7am and had a 6pm flight, so we booked a day room to catch up on the sleep you never get properly on an overnight flight. The front desk let us in before 9am, which we really appreciated. I booked a family room, then asked for a twin at check-in; thankfully it had two proper beds, not one bed plus a camp-bed type setup. The room and shower room were nice, and the direct connection to LGW North Terminal makes it easy to get to check-in and maximize sleep. We'll definitely stay again. The aircon was very noisy, and there was no milk with the tea and coffee. We were so tired that we didn't mention either at the time.

The only thing I'd change is the limited choice on the in-room dining menu. It'd be great if guests could order the main restaurant dishes to their rooms too. I've had another lovely stay. The hotel is spotless and the service is consistently brilliant, which is why I choose it before flights. The team makes everything feel effortless. I'll definitely be back.

The Chinese restaurant food was excellent, and the Filipino staff were a joy. The hotel has some character and self-respect, and it doesn't feel like it's only about expensive hot bedding. The direct bridge to the terminal and the thoughtful design help, too. Check-in was warm and efficient, restaurant booking was easy, and leaving was smooth. Helpful, switched-on staff did their jobs with a smile, no zombie staff trying to avoid guests. One of Britain's least bad airport hotels. I could even stay here for more than one night!
