We spent four wonderful days at Kilmartin Castle for just the two of us, and it felt like the right size for our party. Stef & Simo were lovely to deal with before and throughout the stay. The castle was spotless, beautifully decorated with antiques, contemporary art and striking design, and clearly cared for with a lot of love. Even in the depths of winter, every room was toasty warm. The beds and many bathtubs were wonderfully comfortable. The digital guidebook was a big help for exploring the local area and beyond, and their recommendation of private chef David Anderson from Argyll Chef's Table made the trip perfect. Thank you to Simo & Stef for hosting our special anniversary weekend. Kilmartin Castle was an epic dream, and we'll be back!

There's plenty of wood for the log burners, including one in the outside toilet. The castle has been beautifully restored, and each bedroom has its own character and high quality bedding and towels. The beds are so comfortable that if you can't sleep in them, you won't sleep anywhere!

Kilmartin Glenn is steeped in history, with an amazing local museum and educational walks in the area. There's lots to see and do in this part of Scotland, which I'd recommend visiting. The castle itself is a unique and special place for four couples, and would also suit a family. We cooked a few nights in the well equipped kitchen, and the garden had fresh salad greens, beets, tomatoes and plenty of herbs. Eating in the dining room was an experience, and one evening an amazing chef cooked for us in the greenhouse dining room. The decor is eclectic and interesting, and the bedrooms have cozy, comfortable beds. A local pub is just a two minute walk away for dinner, a wee dram or a pint.

We enjoyed five days at Kilmartin Castle, with all its character and authenticity. We had fun cooking there a couple of nights, and one evening had dinner from an award winning chef in the greenhouse dining room by the pond. We also liked the little village of Kilmartin, with its great pub and beautiful local museum in a very historic part of Scotland. Boat trips, Scotch tours and tastings, plus the usual shopping in towns we visited, made for a great stay. Simon also gave us some very helpful recommendations. Loved it!

We felt lucky to have such a wonderfully unusual stay at Kilmartin Castle. Simon gave us a warm welcome, and everything from the beautiful fixtures and furnishings to the amenities showed great care. We explored the archaeological sites, made salads with produce from the garden, and stopped at the pub for drinks a few times. We also swam in the pond and had dinner in the greenhouse space, served by famed local chef William Hamer.
