I wouldn’t pay to stay here, so I can’t speak to the rooms. The place is disgusting. As soon as I walked in, there was a musty smell like old urine and feet. I nearly turned around and left, but decided to have a drink and see if that first impression improved. It didn’t. The bar staff were rude and argumentative, and looked like bulldogs chewing a wasp. Someone had warned me not to bother, but since I’d never been out in Crediton before, I wanted to give every pub a chance. I’m very happy never to visit this one again. I heard they serve food too. I hope that isn’t true, because if the front of house is dirty and such a shambles, I hate to imagine the kitchen.

I meet here each month for a networking meeting, and the service is reliably efficient. There’s plenty of tea, coffee, fruit juice and croissants, and everything comes quickly. The upstairs function room works well for us. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended.

Sunday roasts are legendary, and it’s our favourite night out in Crediton. There’s great music and entertainment, plus darts and pool tables downstairs.

We really enjoyed the roast lamb takeaway from the ship hote today. There was plenty of lovely food, and it was ready promptly in containers that were easy to carry. Couldn’t fault it, thank you!

We had a fabulous six night stay. The staff were really friendly, the room was great and the Sunday lunch was amazing. I’d recommend the burgers too.
