We went in on a Friday for a pre-birthday lunch and it was a lovely start to the weekend. The pub felt cosy with the log fire going, and we got a warm welcome and a fantastic menu. The portions were generous, the food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. We’ll definitely be back.

The southern fried chicken starter and duo of beef roast were both 5/5, with generous portions. I had no room left for pudding, though the menu sounded amazing. We came for a belated staff Christmas meal and the food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Such a gem, I’m gutted it isn’t my local.

We were lucky to get a table by the fire, which made the place feel extra cosy. You feel at home as soon as you walk in, and the service was incredible. The Sunday lunch was the best I’ve had in a very long time, every part of it was above and beyond. I’d highly recommend it.

We’ve eaten here three times now, and every meal has been excellent. There’s a good choice of beers and ales, the food is delicious, and the people are lovely and very friendly. Great service too.

After a delicious Friday lunch of homemade shin of beef pie, the proper kind with a lid, and charred cabbage that was sweet and juicy, we went for a walk along the canal. What a great place. They also put on a top whack music festival in the summer.
