The bed was just right for me, properly firm, and I slept really well. The blackout curtains are the old-fashioned kind, and there’s a kettle in the room too. Check-in felt a bit unusual, though the person I found was polite. The room’s a little dated, but comfortable enough for a night, and fine for a short stay.

We ate at the onsite restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly, and the price felt like great value. The rooms are a bit dated, but that really shouldn’t put you off.

There are plenty of good places to stay nearby, so I’d go somewhere else unless you want to feel ripped off. We had no hot water on the first night. The next night, the owner confronted us about furniture damage we hadn’t caused. In the photos below, you can clearly see old tape marks, so it was already there. We also spoke to locals at the pub that night, and they said Dial house hotel in crowthorne was known for doing this to unsuspecting customers. The staff were good, though, and I don’t want the owner’s behavior to reflect badly on them. The owner caused all the problems.

I’ve been staying here Monday to Thursday for the last 14 months, which says a lot about how pleased I’ve been. The rooms are spacious, and the hotel is clean and tidy. It’s in an excellent location, with friendly, welcoming staff who focus on guests’ needs. Five-star service and experience.

The staff pay attention to the little details and make the stay comfortable, and they’re amazingly friendly and accommodating. The rooms are clean, cosy and rustic, with a shower that’s wonderfully hot and powerful. We like the charm and character here, something you don’t get in the bigger hotel chains. This was our second stay this year, and we’d definitely come back again and again. We’d recommend staying here to see what a great place it is. Spence and Bara
