The Blue Lion

The food and service really impressed us. Everything arrived beautifully presented and was top quality, easily better than some big chain restaurants I’ve tried. The menu had far more choice than I expected from a traditional-looking pub, including salmon, King prawns and Wellington. We’d stopped for an evening meal after a day out, and they managed to fit us in on a bank holiday. Inside, it felt like a quiet, cosy country room, with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were attentive all evening and gave us the menus when we arrived. Thank you.

We felt very welcome, and the locals were friendly and helpful. The staff took good care of us. It’s clearly the village’s main hub. The menu is small, as it is in many restaurants, but the food was very good and nicely presented, with good service. Would we stay again? Definitely.

We were seated in the restaurant after getting drinks at the bar, where the young lad was friendly. There were three of us, and we ordered three beef dinners, cauliflower cheese and an extra jug of gravy. The food came quickly and piping hot. The beef was well done but still really tender, with plenty of vegetables. We probably could’ve managed without the extra gravy, but it was delicious, and the cauliflower cheese was very cheesy and yummy. With a Coke, cider and a bottle of Sauvignon blanc, the bill was around 65 pounds, well worth it. We’re staying just a minute’s walk away on holiday and had booked Sunday dinner a while back. Hoping to come back later in the week, it’s a real gem.

We loved our short stay, especially the spa and the comfortable bed. The accommodation was great, though I thought the price was a little high.
