The BARN was spotless and nicely presented, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and outdoor seating where you can enjoy the stunning views over Loch Awe. The accommodation was well appointed, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We had a fabulous New Year stay in this comfortable, spotless cottage with beautiful views. It’s quite remote, which added to its charm, and there are lovely walks nearby. The owner, Catriona, had left battery candles glowing for our arrival, a really thoughtful touch.

The views across the Loch from the open-plan downstairs room and the roomy upstairs bedroom were breathtaking. We originally booked the Barn, but because it was low season and the Stable was empty, we were offered that instead and gladly took it. The Stable was immaculate and had facilities and supplies for everything, from utensils to a washing machine. Catriona was very helpful with suggestions, and the guidebooks, leaflets, maps and ideas inside made it feel like having a tourist information centre right there. The COVID precautions were thorough too: everything was exceptionally clean, items were bagged where needed, and the crockery, utensils and equipment we used during the last three days were marked for further cleaning. The surrounding countryside offers endless walks, road trips and relaxing days out. We visited Canasserie Castle, Kilchurn Castle, St Conans Kirk and Kilmartin Standing Stones nearby, then went further afield to Skipness Castle, St Coumbas Cave, Oban, Campletown and Mull of Kintyre. There are two lovely waterfalls within walking distance, and birds visit the grounds every day. At dusk we saw deer by the Loch, and red squirrels and Pine Martins appeared daily outside the Stable, along with lots of birds each morning. It was a peaceful, relaxing and inspiring stay, and we planned to return in 2021. I’d definitely recommend it.

The local walks are good for the soul, and there are so many lovely places to visit around this beautiful area. We’ve been coming to Blarghour for years and have stayed in all the cottages at one time or another. We’ve never been disappointed. We simply love it here and can’t recommend it highly enough.

We stayed in the Barn, which felt like a home from home, and I’d recommend it any time without hesitation. The location is a great escape from the rat race, with outstanding views and miles of walking, with lovely scenery around every corner. I’d give it six stars if I could.
