We really appreciated being allowed to check in early, since it meant we could head straight out into the hills. The cabin is very cute, with loch views, and it’s a handy base for local hikes. The train station is at the bottom of the cabin. We had a great stay this weekend, and the bed was honestly the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. There were a couple of small issues: water was leaking under the bathroom sink, so we used the kitchen sink to wash our hands, and we had to fix the boiler to get the hot water working. The log stove gives off great heat, which was welcome in the freezing Scottish spring. We let the fire go out and woke up cold in the night, our fault and no reflection on the cabin. There wasn’t much kindling, so we picked up more, though I’m sure they’d have given us some if we’d asked.

We really enjoyed the stay, especially the comfortable bed, fantastic view, and the fact that it’s pet-friendly. The cabin itself is lovely, quiet, and a beautiful place to relax in nature. When we arrived, the room wasn’t ready yet, so the hosts kindly offered us coffee and asked us to wait while it was cleaned. Afterward, we found that dirty cups had been put back in the cupboard without being washed, which was disappointing. A kettle would be a useful addition. There’s a gas stove, but boiling water for tea takes around 20-30 minutes. There were two pots but no frying pan, which seems like a basic item for self-catering.

We stayed for two nights and were surprised by how spacious the cabin felt, with lots of tucked-away storage and all the basics we needed for a short stay. It stayed warm all night, even without lighting the fire, which we’d thought we might need. The view is amazing, and there’s a little shop just along the road for anything you might need. It’s dog-friendly too. Great accommodation, highly recommend!

The only downside was that I couldn’t stay longer! I had a wonderful time at Lochawe Luxury Eco Cabins. The cabin was lovely and the fire kept it warm, while the inn staff were friendly and accommodating. 10/10, I’ll definitely be back.

The view over Loch Awe is wonderful, and the cabin was clean, warm, and had plenty of storage. It’s small but very well laid out, with a lovely comfortable bed and a great shower. It’s dog-friendly too. I’d totally recommend staying here.
