The Crown Lodges

The Crown's food was amazing. Even my 11-year-old, who normally only eats "beige" food like nuggets and chips, devoured his roast. The kitchen surprised us with a lovely birthday ice cream scoop decorated with chocolate wishes, such a thoughtful touch. Loula, our waitress, was friendly, accommodating, prompt, and helpful. She's a real credit to the business. Hang on to her, landlord! We drove out for a birthday meal and loved the surroundings too. We spotted a beautiful-looking barn used for weddings and other events, and the exposed beams and brickwork in the pub and restaurant made for a really lovely experience. If you get the chance, you really must visit The Crown!

Ben, the manager, is one of a kind. The lodge is lovely and basic, but it has what you need. The rooms can get cold, bedside lights would be nice, and the Wi-Fi is patchy sometimes.

Dinner at the Inn was delicious, and the staff were really friendly. The bed was comfortable, though if you're over 6ft your feet might touch the footboard. The rooms are fairly quiet, but you can hear neighbours walking about if they forget to take off their hard shoes. The walk-in shower had good pressure, though a small shelf for shower gel and other bits would help. I stayed one night in one of the modern lodges, a short walk from the Inn itself. There was plenty of free parking and the room was spotless. A great place to visit and stay if you're in the area. Definitely recommended.

We were a party of eight, and arranging things for us was effortless. The service was amazing, we were thoroughly spoiled, and the Sunday roast was packed with flavour. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for a lovely afternoon.
