A lovely little place, and there was some great music on the night we visited.

The people were lovely and the location was nice, but the food left us really disappointed. We came for Sunday lunch and the menu was very limited. The roasts were underwhelming: the meat was overcooked, the roast potatoes undercooked, and the Yorkshire puddings seemed shop-bought. The boiled potatoes were by far the most generous serving, though I can't imagine anyone getting excited about those.

There are lots of walking routes nearby, so this is a great place to stay if you enjoy walking. I found this lovely little locals' pub while staying in the area and went back several times. The staff and locals were all really friendly and welcoming, and there's a great atmosphere. I took my family in for dinner one evening, and the food was very tasty. We'll definitely return when we're next in the area.

For £14, the Sunday roast was very average. The chicken and vegetables were basic, the Yorkshire puddings looked bought, and the three roast potatoes were tiny and seemed like they'd come from a freezer packet. It filled us up, but felt like a cheap, quick dinner being sold at a fairly premium price. Hungry Horse or Brewers Fatre would be better for quality, quantity and price. The dessert selection was limited too, and the portions were very small at £6 each. A bit disappointing, truth be told.

The welcome was friendly, the cask beer was great, and the place felt warm and homely. I arrived a bit early and couldn't eat, but locals said the food is very good. I was very tempted to stay for some sausage casserole!
