Beech Hill Country House Hotel

The staff took such meticulous care of everything, the rooms were amazing, and the food was beautiful. Our daughter celebrated her wedding here on 28/3/26, and the venue gave us everything we could have hoped for. The setting is stunning, and I'd strongly recommend Beech Hill to any bride looking for a lovely place for her special day. Thank you ❤️

We got married here very recently, and the planning and service were a huge letdown. Management replaced our planner early on. The new planner knew what needed doing but missed many important details we'd put in writing. Throughout the preparations, the figures for finances and the seating capacity for the day after breakfast were inaccurate. For what we paid, the experience did not feel like a rounded four-star stay. The venue looks great, but be wary if you have specific plans for your wedding. What you see isn't necessarily what you get, and your plans could be compromised on the day. Don't build your hopes up just because the place looks impressive. The double beds are two single mattresses pushed together. There were layers of dust on every chandelier and door frame, while the floors were clean. Everything else looked like it had been an afterthought from long ago. Servers repeatedly took food and drinks from guests who were still consuming them, and not one of them smiled. Bathroom soap wasn't replenished. Heating in many guest rooms was inadequate, with temperatures staying at 15°C. There's more I could say, but it'd run to six pages.

We did have a really good wedding day here in December, though a few things took the shine off it. We repeatedly asked in the lead-up whether there would be enough bar staff, and were assured there would be. There definitely weren't enough. I told staff on the night about the long queue, but nothing changed. It was frustrating after we'd raised it so many times. A few other things also didn't happen as agreed. The tea wasn't refilled at the reception, there was little or no table service for drink orders despite being told there would be, and empty glasses and bottles piled up on the tables. We'd requested tea and coffee be brought to the tables after dessert, but it was left in a corner for guests to fetch themselves. The cake supplier included in the Beech Hill package also left the wrong wedding cake. We still had a great day, but a wedding venue should get these details right.

The food was lovely, and it is a nice spot, but the unfriendly service would put me off spending money on a function there. I don't blame the staff as much as management. They need to communicate better. One young lad served us a few times and was lovely, but the girl at our table never smiled. The bar was slow. I went up for a drink and the man kept chatting to someone else on my side of the counter instead of serving me. When three more people came over, another lad started serving them, so I had to say I'd been there first. It happened a few times. A waitress tried to take a glass right out of my hand while clearing up, and staff were lifting things from the table before we'd finished our course. Shame, because it's a lovely place.
