The reception team needs to follow the same policies. One staff member said something was fine, but another wouldn’t authorise it. That caused problems for my partner when he arrived later while I was away at an important appointment. Apart from that, it’s a lovely hotel in a prime city centre location, with good facilities and well sized rooms. Just right for a city stay.

Our family’s request for interconnecting rooms was granted, which made a big difference and was much appreciated. The hotel is right in the city centre, so it’s easy to get around and explore. We found the bed cosy and the bathroom clean and well maintained. It all felt good value, and we had a really enjoyable stay at the Leonardo Hotel. The carpets could have been a little cleaner, but that didn’t take too much away from a pleasant visit. We’d happily return. It seems a good fit for families wanting a comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced place to stay.

For a supposed four star hotel, the breakfast was a disappointment. The choices were extremely limited, more like what you’d expect at a two star place, and the juice dispensers were broken. Food was overcooked and shockingly bad, while the prices were extortionate even by hotel standards. The beds kept moving every time you turned, which was a nightmare. We’d booked and paid for late checkout, yet still got a rude call demanding to know why we hadn’t left. A couple of staff were helpful and nice, but the rest seemed grumpy. This wasn’t the experience I’d expect from a four star hotel.

I requested a travel cot when booking, well before arrival, but it never appeared. We asked about it five times. The first time we understood that people forget, and the second time we were told it would be brought up. Half an hour later there was still nothing, so I went downstairs three more times, with no result. My child is one, and I don’t co-sleep, so I was anxious and got no sleep. We left early in the morning because I didn’t want to stay there. When I contacted the property afterwards, they wouldn’t do anything or take responsibility. Booking.com apologised on their behalf. Shocking behaviour, and not even a sorry.
