What really made the stay special was how helpful every staff member was. There was a mix-up with our bookings when my friend and I arrived on Friday, but the manager and reception staff took great care of us and sorted it all out. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the hotel is right in the center, surrounded by pubs. The Peace bridge is just a 10-minute walk away. I also enjoyed my morning walks along the Foyle marina and the Derry walls, and the area felt completely safe. The only inconvenience was that there were no fridges in the rooms, so I needed the staff to keep my two insulated food bags in a fridge. They were always happy to help me get the bags in the morning and again during the day. Great quality for the price, and I’d definitely recommend the hotel.

I’d give fewer stars if I could. We’d been willing to overlook a few small problems until the morning we were leaving. After a night out, we got into bed when we came back. The next morning I realized I’d spent the night lying on dried blood that wasn’t mine. We had to catch a train, so we decided to email about it afterward. When I tried calling the manager, he abruptly got me off the phone because he was busy. He said nothing could be done because we hadn’t raised it the previous evening, even though we noticed the blood then, before getting into bed. The only offer was points to use at this hotel or another. After going back and forth and chasing him, I finally accepted. This was in March, and I’m still waiting for a response. Avoid!

Most of what you need to see is within a half-mile walk, so the location is great. The rooms are fine, though they can be noisy. The hotel sits on a less-than-ideal corner, across from the store, with a bus stop right outside, so there’s a lot of traffic and noise. The website shows the building at night, since the issues out front would be visible in the daytime. The location is really the reason to stay here.

We stayed at the holiday inn in dery on Friday night and had a lovely time. Our room on the 4th floor was spotless, and the bed was so comfortable. The reception staff were lovely, especially Christine, who was so helpful and never made anything feel like too much trouble. We asked her about how far derry fc was and where to eat.
