Travelodge Derry

The beds were really comfortable and I slept well for both nights. The location is handy for the city centre shops and restaurants. There isn't air conditioning, and my room had no view. Parking at the hotel would have been useful, but a car park about 100 metres away charges 50p an hour.

Our room was spacious, but the place badly needs redecorating and everything feels outdated. We stayed for five nights over New Year. The shower and bath water stayed cold, the heating only worked once, and our room went uncleaned for three days. We had to ring reception to ask for fresh towels and other basics.

The drum and bass from the ground-floor bar was awful and kept us from sleeping on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. We had to change rooms and take pills. The other problems added up too: no car park, so you have to use public parking; expensive Wi-Fi that worked poorly; dirty doorways in the evening and at night; sheets that weren't changed; no hairdryer; and no outside line on the room phone. The reception staff, who seemed to stay hidden behind the desk, were barely polite. This does not deserve three stars, and the value for money was the worst I've seen.

When we arrived, our booking hadn't been completed correctly and one room was missing. The staff did nothing to help, apart from offer us a single room at four times the price we'd originally agreed to pay. The guests who did stay had no hot water, and the room looked as though it had been patched together with sealant.
