The White Bear

Customer service this good is hard to find these days. It’s an amazingly comfortable, welcoming pub, and the team supports our local ambulance service community responders by letting us use the back room for a meeting every other month. They’re so helpful, and dogs are welcome. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I haven’t tried the food yet, so can’t comment on that, though I’ve no doubt it’s to a high standard.

After a long, gruelling cycle from Reading, the lads and I stayed at the White Bear. The landlady was extremely friendly and accommodating when we arrived, showed us where to store our bikes, and made us feel at home. The rooms are rustic and cosy, as you’d expect from Devizes’ oldest pub, possibly with the original flooring. The bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. The shower was phenomenal, with great water pressure. A full English breakfast set us up nicely for the next day’s cycling. The pints were cheap and kept coming, with ales from the local brewery. It’s also featured in the Good Beer guide. I’d highly recommend staying at or visiting the White Bear.

We had a lovely dinner here this evening, and the food was delicious. Alexandra served us and was really nice, chatting and joking with us. We had lots of gin too! It’s a lovely old pub, clean, and there’s plenty of room to social distance. Perfect 👌
