We slept so quietly that the only thing to wake us was a lovely dawn chorus. The cottages sit in a scenic spot behind a friendly, peaceful pub, in a lovely little village. Andy gave us a warm welcome, along with two friendly cats. Our room was large, clean and warm, with a very comfortable bed. The purple decor made it feel a bit regal. A stay worthy of a crown.

The landlady was friendly and the place itself is beautiful, but the room was unclean and everything felt worn out and in need of updating. There's loads of potential here, though it isn't being made the most of. Nobody offered breakfast or told us what food was available in the pub.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, but the steak and kidney pudding was rock hard, which was a letdown. My other half had the curry. We heard the microwave ping several times, which was a bit worrying. The cabbage could have been greener too, it was very pale and white.

Everyone gave us such a warm welcome, and the accommodation and meal were excellent. Give the Mad Goose ale a try, it's one of the best I've had. Thanks, folks, and see you before Christmas.
