The little town setting right beside the mountain is magnificent. Inside, the hotel feels warm and welcoming, with a lovely sense of history. My room was clean and heated, and the spacious bathroom felt modern. Breakfast was fresh and delicious.

We had such a nice birthday stay, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The bed was really comfortable, though the kettle would be better on a lower table. We found the evening meal a bit pricey, but it was worth it. The fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce were great, and my partner enjoyed the venison pie of the day with chips and veg. We also shared onion rings and garlic ciabatta. Best meal we’ve had in a while, and we’d happily come back. Our dog Freddie loved the bath!

Dinner was so good, the menus felt like Michelin quality, and breakfast was amazing too. They served it like a five star hotel, with an appetizer, bread, drinks, and mains. The room was plenty big, and the bathroom was beautiful and clean. Such an amazing experience. I believe this deserves to be ranked the number one hotel in the Lake District.

The bar and restaurant had a cosy, welcoming feel, with three log burners making it feel like home. We spent the weekend here with two other couples and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the food was top class. I'm sure we'll be back.

The location is superb, and the food was fantastic. Probably the best pie I’ve ever had. There was a good choice of cask ales, all fresh and in great condition. My standard double was basic, as expected, but very clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed my stay, thank you!
