With Halifax Borough Market and plenty of places to eat just a walk away, the location worked really well for us. The hotel has a grand, classic entrance, and the spacious rooms are easy to reach by lift. Staff in the lobby were warm and helpful, and I liked the fresh scent from the diffusers along the hallways. A great spot for visiting the area.

The receptionist was lovely and understood straight away, then gave us a refund immediately. The Executive room we'd paid for was in awful shape: the carpet was filthy, the bed was so soft you could feel the base when sitting down, and there were no reading lamps. The bathroom floor was coming apart too. We went to the Premier inn instead, which cost less and was cleaner and more comfortable.

The bed was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was decent enough, though nothing special. Our Superior room was only a bit larger than a standard one, with plain white walls and an old pale flower picture, so it didn't feel cosy or have much character. The TV couldn't find any channels; reception couldn't fix it, and apparently another guest had already reported the same thing. The building looks impressive outside but feels dated within. Still, it cost much less than the other hotels we've used, so I can't complain too much. A bar would be a nice addition for a drink before heading out.

I've stayed at the White Swan hotel twice over the past six months for work, and I'm happy with what they charge per night. The staff are friendly and polite, and the location suits me perfectly. There's a great pizza place right next door, plus a Thai Restaurant about five minutes down the road, which is handy since I like Thai food. I'll add some hotel photos later.

Check-in is simple, and reception greets you with smiles. The rooms are clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and a very nice clean bathroom with amenities. For somewhere in Halifax town centre, the prices are always great. If you need a room, I'd happily recommend booking here for a good night's sleep.
