We met here after a colleague’s funeral and were given a warm welcome. The buffet was excellent and the beer was great. There’s a tarmac car park with space for around 26 cars. The pub is opposite a canal marina, beside the River Trent.

Thursday bike night had a good mix of bikes and plenty of friendly conversation. It’s a pretty setting with a lovely little pub, and I’d happily recommend it and come back. Just don’t block the caravan site gateway to the right of the pub. The food shack takes cash only, although the pub accepts cards.

The bikers clearly support the place, but the closing times left us confused. Last orders were at 8.45 and we were told to leave by 9, despite the published hours saying otherwise. Then at 9 we were offered another drink after friends came in and were served at 8.55. Sorry, but make your mind up.

We stayed here over Coronation weekend. The owners were pleasant and accommodating, and the food was freshly cooked and excellent. If you’re camping, don’t arrive before 3pm.

We had a fantastic weekend in our camper, with a lovely location, a great atmosphere and delicious food, especially the Sunday carvery. Everyone was so friendly. Many thanks to the owners and staff for making it such an enjoyable stay.
