The pub dog, a gorgeous Lady Great Dane, was lovely to meet, and the locally brewed beer on tap was fresh. We shared a perfectly cooked medium-rare tomahawk with generous sides. The chips were crisp outside and fluffy inside, the vegetables weren't overcooked, and everything was excellent. Service was great too, with friendly staff. A great place to stop for a drink or meal if you're passing through or starting or finishing a nearby hike, as we were.

Halfway through a wet, windy hike, we stopped in for a Sunday roast. The staff were thoughtful and charming, sat us beside the fire, and brought extra gravy without us having to ask. The portions were generous and the food delicious. Couldn't have asked for more.

After a lovely walk on a wet afternoon, the family-friendly welcome made this a special place. We met Ennis and the team, and the young man taking orders at our table was especially friendly and helpful, though I didn't catch his name. It's a charming old pub in a picturesque setting, with a great range of beers including its own house-brewed lager. Our Saturday afternoon food was delicious and fairly priced. Thanks, Paul. Highly recommend.

We had dinner in the pub both nights of our long weekend, and the menu had plenty of variety. The room was clean and welcoming, and the value was extremely good for what we paid. It's in a beautiful village, right by the starting points for several major footpaths up Leith Hill. Good for staying over, having a pint, or enjoying dinner.

A lovely place with very kind people. We stopped in during our Leith Hill walks, and they offered anyone who wanted it some iced water to refill their bottle.
