The Waltons

The Bird room looks over the valley towards Denbies wine estate, a lovely sight in the morning sun. It and the private bathroom were beautifully prepared before we arrived and kept that way each day by Vicky, the housekeeper. The huge freestanding bath, fast-heating towel rail and antique pulley towel-drying rack were all lovely touches. Maggie and Richard were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. They even went out of their way to arrange our requested early check-in so we could enjoy the first day of our holiday. The continental breakfast was abundant and delicious, and Maggie's freely available homemade cakes were excellent. I especially recommend the fruit cake. My wife and I had a lovely four-night stay. The Waltons is delightful and only a couple of minutes' walk from the middle of town. Stay here if you're visiting Dorking.

Maggie, Richard, the cat and dogs looked after us so well, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a two-night break at The Waltons in Dorking and got some much-needed R&R. Our room was quiet, with stunning views, and there was a beautiful breakfast selection plus fresh cakes baked daily. The high street is a short walk away, and there are lots of walks on the doorstep. A fabulous find. Highly recommend, thank you.

We only stayed one night at the Waltons in early December 2022 and wished we could have stayed longer. Maggie, Richard and Vicky made us feel very much at home. The room was cosy, comfortable and well appointed, and breakfast was plentiful and tasty. We can only agree with what earlier reviewers said. If we return, we'll definitely try the homemade cakes. We had the whole lower ground floor of an early Victorian villa, in a secluded part of town but still an easy walk from the main streets. Maggie welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home straight away. We could choose self-catering, breakfast, or a combination, and come and go through our own entrance. The small rear patio was a sunny, secluded spot for breakfast. There was parking on the drive, but turning in was tight; we parked on the road instead, where there were enough unrestricted spaces. Lovely views from the front towards the church and beyond. Ideal for a short getaway, and we hope to return.
