Best Western Station Hotel

Breakfast was nice, though service was slow. One staff member seemed more interested in chatting than refilling the juice, milk and other things. The hotel feels a little tired. On arrival we were given a small, old-looking attic room that smelled of stale cigarette smoke, which wasn't pleasant. After I mentioned it to the woman at reception, she quickly found us a nicer room. We had a nice stay overall, but a few small things are letting the place down.

A great-value, peaceful escape. There's a leafy path nearby that runs by the river and leads into town, where there are beer gardens and places to wander. The people working here really make the stay, especially James, who was so genuinely friendly and helpful. Like Mr Ben, he seemed to have a different hat or task for every occasion. Highly recommend.

The staff went out of their way to help, and I'm very grateful for the ice. My room was quite spacious, and I had a pleasant three-night stay. It's a lovely old Victorian building with a lift to all three floors, plus pleasant places to sit indoors or outside. The interior looks quite tired and could use some TLC. At the moment, breakfast is the only meal available, as there's no chef for evening meals.

Awful. The management had a bad attitude, the rooms were dirty and cold, and the food was poor. There was no warmth in the welcome over Christmas, and the place urgently needs refurbishment. Sofas were torn, chairs were dirty, and light bulbs were missing throughout the hotel. The rooms hadn't been cleaned properly either. Breakfast was plated up and put in front of me without asking what I wanted, and they refused me a boiled egg. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
