Tower Hill Guest House

At £65 each per night, this felt like very poor value, and we left disappointed. Finding the place was difficult because of poor signs and a postcode mixup. We tried twice to call the mobile numbers provided, but one webpage number wasn't recognised and the other went unanswered. The owners seemed barely receptive and disinterested, though they did show us room 2. Our rooms stayed cold until the heating came on in the evening, and the en-suite bathroom was freezing. The rooms were sparse, the furnishings weren't modern, and the skirting boards needed cleaning. Breakfast isn't worth bothering with, it's uncooked in a box.

Jane's breakfast is well worth the 5 pounds, and the bathrooms are brand new. I loved my stay: the place was spotless, the family lovely, and it was terrific value. It's very close to Jane Austen locations, including the still existing building where Austen used to collect her letters, now the Wheat Sheaf Hotel, just down the road. Hope I can come back soon!

The view outside was incredible, and the room was excellent, with a gorgeous, very clean Bath. Martin and his wife are great people. I stayed in Yesterday for one night and liked it so much that I'm staying again next week. Excellent location.

I stay here regularly because Martin & Jayne are so helpful, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are clean, bright and good.
