Staybridge Suites Dundee by IHG

The staff were all friendly and helpful, and it’s about a ten minute walk into town. We loved the room, especially having a mini kitchen and the option of ordering room service. The bed was lovely, breakfast was included and full, and dogs are welcome for a small fee. It got a bit warm, so we turned the temperature right down and opened the window. Would definitely stay again.

Parking was full the whole time, so we had to leave the car elsewhere and carry our heavy bags over. The staff seemed to think that was normal and acceptable. The breakfast was poor too: the selection was limited, refills were slow, the pastries were stale and the bananas rotten. Our room was dirty and in bad shape, with somebody else’s sock under the bedside table. The shower was rusty, filthy and covered in mold. The hotel looked nothing like its online photos, and the lack of control over cleanliness and service was obvious. Our expectations and the reality were completely different. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The breakfast was a little dry, but it was included in a great price, so I can’t complain. The rooms are lovely, with a kitchen area and fridge, and the staff were friendly. There’s also a restaurant and bar onsite, and the location is great. I’d definitely come back.

The suites are clean and comfortable, with well equipped kitchen areas, comfy beds and a quiet building. We’ve stayed at Hotel Indigo, which is part of the same complex, a couple of times, and decided to try the Stalybridge Suites this time. When we booked, they were a little cheaper and included breakfast. Just remember to switch off the bathroom heater, or the suite gets like an oven!
