The owner, Michael, couldn’t have been more helpful. Clara Lodge Guesthouse is clean and well equipped for either a short or a long stay, with lovely old-fashioned items of interest in its decor. I can definitely recommend it for a visit to Dunfermline.
Michael was a really friendly host, and the rooms were nice. The bathroom is shared, so noise from other guests could keep you up if you need an early night.
We saw the owner when we arrived but not again. The room only had a kettle and cups, though tea, coffee and milk were available in the kitchen. There was no water supply in the room, and the bed linen wasn’t ironed. Someone turned the heating off during the night, and we woke up cold while it was snowing.
The host is a great guy, friendly and very helpful. The place feels homely and comfortable. I’ve stayed a few times and would highly recommend it.
