Pucks Glen Lodges

A welcome package with some essentials had been left for us, and the living room was warm and cosy. These lodges are delightful, well maintained, and the instructions for everything in the house are easy to follow. There are plenty of amenities close enough to be convenient, while the spot still feels nicely secluded. The bed was comfortable and the bedding warm to snuggle under. I’ll come back and recommend it to others.

Puck's Glen is just a few steps away, and I’d also suggest Ben More, Big tree trail, and Kilmun Arboretum. As a solo hiker exploring forest trails and hills, I found this place convenient for getting around, less than a mile from the bus station. The hosts respond quickly to texts and give detailed suggestions for places to go in Dunoon. There’s also a handy guidebook in the house. It’s well equipped with cooking utensils, a dishwasher, bath soaps and towels. I was surprised by how fast the internet was for a rural place.

The welcome pack was a nice touch, and the owners sent plenty of information before and during our stay. We had a lovely short break in a well-presented cabin with everything we needed. The cabins are easy to find whether you come by ferry or drive directly, and they’re about 5 miles from Dunoon. We booked direct and arranged early check-in and late checkout, which was worth the extra cost. I’d certainly go again.

We stayed at Calltainn for a few days during Cowal Gathering and it felt like a home from home. The lodge was warm, cosy and comfortable, with everything we needed. The owners communicated well, and the whole process from start to finish was straightforward. Highly recommend.
