Croxdale Inn

The Wi-Fi was very poor, and I couldn’t sleep because a dog in the room next door kept barking at 10.45pm. I called the owner or manager, who told me that if I didn’t like it, I could go home. I’m a paying guest, and that’s how I was treated. Seriously, he needs to learn some hospitality skills.

We stopped for one night on the way north. The hotel has clean rooms, convenient off-road parking, and friendly, helpful staff. There’s a great area to explore, with a fantastic view of the surrounding countryside and a playground with a football pitch opposite. The dinner menu has plenty of variety, and the bar prices are more than reasonable. We’d definitely stay again.

For one night with four of us, the room was fine. A friendly man showed us where it was. It was simple, with two fans, tea and coffee, a hairdryer, fridge, and a bathroom with a shower, toilet, sink, and towels. I wouldn't choose it for a longer stay. The photos were taken after we left.

We stayed for two nights while taking our daughter to a friend's house in Spennymoor, and wanted somewhere nearby that wouldn't cost too much. The good reviews and friendly welcome helped. The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable, though the decor didn't match and everything was basic. The bar is roomy, but a bit cold for me. We had Indian food from the restaurant in the bar, which was lovely, and the staff were accommodating throughout. Durham is only a short drive away.
