The cosy, inviting atmosphere makes Cavendish Bakery a nice spot for a quick coffee or a longer catch-up. Everything I’ve tried has been top-notch, from flaky croissants to decadent cakes and artisan sourdough. You’re greeted by the comforting smell of freshly baked goods and genuinely friendly service as soon as you walk in. They pay attention to detail and use high-quality ingredients. Whether it’s a morning pastry, a celebration cake or a loaf of bread, they deliver every time. Hands down one of the best bakeries I’ve visited. Highly recommended!

That hot chicken and mushroom pie was good! There was a tempting range of cookies, doughnuts and brownies too.

I popped in for tea and a croissant, but they’d already run out by 9.19, hence the 4 stars! The tea was beautiful, though. I don’t often get a really good takeaway tea. The fresh food in the cabinets looked tasty, and customers kept coming in steadily.

Cavendish Bakery has been on the corner of Cavendish Place in Eastbourne for at least 45 years. My grandma used to get me treats there, including Swiss Buns and the cream slice, which they don’t seem to make anymore. I’d been away for a while, so when I got back, eating there was the first thing I did. I had the Steak and Kidney pie, Traditional pasty, a cream-filled Donut and the Swiss Bun. That sweet icing on the soft bun is so good, the Swiss bun is a must. If I could go back in time, I’d have the cream slice again. BRING BACK THE CREAM SLICE

The Cavendish Bakery stuff is sold at my local newsagent and mini grocery store. If I get there early enough, I always go for the chicken, bacon and mayo in a multiseeded bap. It’s so, so good, fresh and packed with filling. Then I’ll have a sweet, sticky Belgium Bun. I’ve been down to the bakery too, but I’m glad it isn’t closer or I’d be there every day. Great food, lovely staff, great place. Keep it up, guys.
