There’s a bus stop just to the right of the guest house, and buses come very regularly. Local amenities aren’t far away, either. The place was clean and modern, and I’d thoroughly recommend it. My husband and I felt welcome from the moment we walked in. I celebrated my 50th birthday there, and they made it even more special by leaving a lovely bottle of champagne in our room after breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ted and Dot, who made our time in Edinburgh that much more special.

The rooms were clean and had good facilities, but I had a bad stay. I booked two nights and could only manage one, yet I was still charged for both after speaking with Kelly. The bedroom window looked onto a brick wall, something I think should be mentioned in the listings. The main problem was the people upstairs. A woman berated her 'chap' for hours into the early morning, then someone stomped around so loudly it sounded like the roof was caving in. Apparently there was no carpet and the loose floorboards needed pinning down. I got no sleep at all. He turns up with a woman every so often for a weekend.

We rode in on our touring bike and were immediately offered a place to put it away in the garage. The welcome was lovely, and our room was spotless. Breakfast was good too, though I’d have preferred a later time, just a personal preference. The owners were very friendly and helpful. I’d recommend it 100%.

The hosts were very welcoming, and everything was nice and clean. Breakfast started a little too early for us. There’s a bar, but sadly it never opened. We enjoyed our stay. For the bus ride into Edinburgh, make sure you have change.

The traffic noise was the one downside, starting early and carrying on late. Otherwise, the location was excellent. Our room was lovely and spacious, with a great roomy shower and plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable and we slept really well. Breakfast was good too, and we’d definitely stay again.
