Aparthotel Adagio Edinburgh Royal Mile

I only wish I could've stayed longer. The hotel sits along the Royal Mile, within walking distance of lots of Old Town sights and the New Town, with shops and food right outside. Waverley station is under a 10-minute walk away. If you've got bulky luggage, East Market Street is the easier approach since its walkways are more evenly paved. The room was spacious and nicely furnished, with a big living area, comfortable bed, plenty of outlets and lots of storage, including loads of hangers. There was a kitchen area with a microwave, fridge and induction stove. I didn't use those, but they're handy options for travellers. There's also a laundry room and a fitness room with a few cardio machines and a dumbbell rack. Great value for money, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The staff at Reception were lovely every time I spoke with them, and the room temperature stayed steady throughout. I had a great three-night stay and couldn't fault it. The studio was spacious and spotless. The sofa bed was already made, which was a nice surprise after reading reviews that said it often wasn't. The kitchen was set up for simple meals, with two hot rings, a microwave with grill and oven settings, and a dishwasher with tablets provided. They'd also left washing-up liquid and a sponge under the sink, a thoughtful touch for a short stay. The bathroom was a decent size, with a fold-away washing line in the shower area. There was plenty else too: a safe, iron and board, hairdryer, coffee machine, kettle, huge TV, and a big fridge with a freezer box. It's on a quieter stretch of the Royal Mile, less than a 10-minute walk from Waverley station. Most sights were easy to reach on foot. I even walked to Dean Village, Stockbridge and Leith. I didn't use the Wi-Fi, so can't comment on it. I'd happily stay here again at the right off-season rate.

Adagio was a great starting point for exploring Edinburgh, and I wish our four-day visit had been longer. The Royal Mile location made shops, restaurants and cultural sites easy to reach. The staff were approachable and very helpful with transport for our group of eight adults, restaurant suggestions and general directions for walking around. We were surprised by how spacious and immaculate the room was, especially after our London room had been literally half the size. It met our needs really well.

The apartment was cosy and just the right size for me, and I had a comfortable stay. Its spot near the heart of the Royal Mile was excellent, with lots of places to eat around and tour meeting points close by.
