Bonnington Guest House

We came for a wake, and getting to the hotel was easy, just a three-minute walk from the crematorium we used. The staff were warm and helpful. They served tea, coffee, bacon and sausage rolls, and biscuits, all to a high standard. The room was plain but well kept, and a sensible size for our group.

After my mother's funeral, we stayed on for a final drink in the bar through the hall. It was pleasant. The venue is especially handy for Warriston Crematorium, and I would thoroughly recommend it. In the room, there was enough space for the group, and the tea, coffee, sandwiches, sausage rolls, and shortbread were all fine. Staff kindly brought in extra chairs and offered paper bags for the food we had left over.

There aren't many pubs around Trinity and Ferry Road, so it's good to have the Gosford Bar nearby. It's a nice local hotel bar, with covered outdoor seating and a dependable range of cask and quality keg beers, often from local breweries. The staff are consistently polite and friendly. I haven't tried the food, though what I've seen other people order looks pretty good.

The clients we supported have now been rehoused, and they still have so much to thank the staff for. They felt very safe and were cared for so well during their temporary stay at this hotel. I volunteered with a local charity during the 2021 lockdown, helping homeless people housed here. The staff were amazing with their vulnerable guests and went far beyond what was expected. They even gave mums flowers on Mother's Day. When I visited our clients, they welcomed me, offered a safe socially distanced place to meet, and provided refreshments at no cost. They also did the clients' laundry for free. The council was paying the bill, and there was no way it would have covered all these extra things. The staff clearly care about their guests and hotel.
