Getting utensils from outside the room was necessary, and the location was decent, close to a bus stop with easy access. The room itself was a bad experience. It had one double bed and two single beds, all quite old, plus an old TV with no OTT or screen-sharing option. There was a worn table and chair but no mirror, and the single-door wardrobe had no mirror either. There was a kettle and a cup, but no cutlery, oven, or kitchen area, so heating food wasn’t possible. The old fridge was noisy. Heating was controlled by the owner, with no control in the room. The bathroom and spotted mirror were old, and there was no toilet brush. No charging point by the bed, either. One bed light was broken, and the bright yellow lighting gave me a headache. I don’t think a guest house like this should exist in this century. It felt like the owner was mainly after the money without providing the needed services. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Our three-person room was clean and comfortable, and the price was reasonable. Kadum was helpful with questions and any issues. The bus stop is right outside, or an Uber to the centre of Edinburgh is about £10. I’d stay again.

The room was compact but didn’t feel cramped, and it was very clean. Getting into the city was easy, with a bus stop straight across the road. The shower was highly adjustable, though it took a little while to heat up and respond to the button when turning it on or off. There were just three plug sockets, all around the desk.

We arrived quite late, but Kadum, who runs the guest house, was understanding and left our key somewhere safe for us. The place felt homely, with a clean, spacious room, a tidy bathroom, towels, tea and coffee facilities, and a small TV. Breakfast was delicious, and Arthur's seat is nearby. Street parking is possible, though finding a space might be tricky. The shower wasn’t very powerful, which may be fine for most people, just not what I’m used to. Kadum was very helpful. I’d recommend staying here.

We walked a lot during our trip, and the area made that easy and pleasant. Portobello beach was about 20 minutes away on foot, Arthur's seat around 25-30 minutes, and the city centre about 30. The room was clean and just right for us, and it was a nice place to sleep and rest. Breakfast was okay.
