Culane House Hotel

I stayed for a week and it felt like a home away from home. The hosts and their hospitality were the best part: the owner and staff were very friendly, helpful, and ready to handle any request with a smile. The location was great, with lots of amenities nearby, and the rooms were really nice and clean.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, even sorting out my husband's coffee with soya milk and managing our special vegan diet without any fuss. Breakfast had a nice selection of traditional foods, and the rooms were clean and reasonably priced. During our summer 2018 holiday, some rooms had just been renovated and we were lucky enough to get one. It was huge, with an exceptionally well-equipped bathroom, and I’d never felt that comfortable before. The bus links into the city centre were very good too. We loved our stay and hated leaving. We’ll definitely come back when we can.

We had a lovely overnight stay and would book again. The room was clean, the bathroom was superb, and breakfast was perfect. We also liked the location and the easy, free parking. Our hostess was especially attentive.

The breakfasts were really nice, and we enjoyed visiting Edinburgh, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The place calls itself luxury, though that wasn’t my experience: our room was very small and narrow for a double, the bin and shower handle were broken, and the toilet rolls weren’t replenished. Someone knocked, then a strange man barged in holding the hotel router he’d smashed. I managed to escort him outside diplomatically. When I told the owner, I was told he was a local junkie who had got into their building. At checkout, nobody asked how our stay had been. It also didn’t match the impression Tripadvisor had given me.
