Destiny Scotland Chisholm Hunter Suites

I was very disappointed with Destiny Scotland’s customer care. We had paid in full, but couldn’t use our reservation because a close relative was admitted to hospital in a serious, unforeseen family medical emergency. I explained the situation clearly, but the answer was simply that the booking was non-refundable and non-changeable. I understand that policies exist, yet some flexibility and empathy would have made a real difference in such an exceptional situation. There was none. I contacted them directly as suggested, but the response stayed the same, despite the exceptional circumstances, a bereavement following a medical emergency. I appreciate their willingness to respond publicly, but had hoped for a more compassionate and flexible discussion in private.

We had a lovely stay in the apartment and the view was breathtaking. I found it on Booking.com, then saved some money by booking through the property's own website. The bed was the one disappointment. We were promised a “large bed,” but it was an ordinary queen size. A softer, thinner top mattress over the regular one would have helped us both sleep much better.

The apartment is in an excellent spot, clean and nicely furnished, but the customer care and service brought my rating down. There’s no way to store luggage on the premises if you arrive before the 3 pm check-in, and there’s no option to check in earlier. The only storage is at an office 400 m away, which closes at 5 pm. With a late flight, you have to collect your bags and take them along.

We woke up to the castle view every morning, and all the castle photos were taken from our room window. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the place has a full kitchen and washing machine. Even though the staff were off site, they responded quickly, and the emailed check-in instructions covered every detail. Love this place.
