Getting into the city centre takes about a 40 minute walk, though there are lots of bus stops close by. When we first entered the room, there was an extremely strong smell of spices, onions and garlic, like intense Indian cooking. It's not the kind of smell you'd want in a bedroom, so we had to leave the windows open to air it out and got very cold. The biggest problem was breakfast. The booking site, earlier reviews and the official website all described the breakfast we'd paid for as a full continental breakfast. Instead, we found only a basket of packaged snacks, a kettle, and a few tea and coffee bags. When we raised it, the host said we'd misunderstood the description and offered no solution. The description was clearly for a full continental breakfast, so it felt misleading at best, if not like a scam. The host's unwillingness to sort out something they were clearly at fault for really spoiled our vacation. We wouldn't recommend staying here.

The room and bathroom were clean and cosy, which is rare in the UK! It was easy to catch bus 30 into the city centre, and they emailed my room code early. No issues at all.

We didn't have direct contact with the owners, but still felt really welcomed and cosy. The location was nice and quiet, with the bus stop less than a five minute walk away and downtown about 10 minutes by bus. The room was very tidy and had enough space for my friend and me. We had to head out early every morning, and the takeaway breakfast they gave us was really useful for our trips around Scotland.

A quiet spot that was still close to town and the amenities. The price was reasonable, the beds were really comfortable and everything was clean. The room was lovely, the welcome was friendly, and breakfast was lovely every morning. I'd highly recommend it.

It's good value for money if you're after a no-frills stay. The trouble is, they call it a hotel and I think that's misleading. It feels more like a remotely managed B&B or guesthouse, with no common facilities and a cramped room where you're basically stuck. There aren't staff around for most of the day or night. You'll usually only see anyone at breakfast, which they bring to your door for you to eat in your room. You choose breakfast options by filling out a form, which feels impersonal. They'll email your entry code, so remember to check your email before you arrive. The room can also be quite cold.
