The fire alarm is loud and obnoxious, and goes off every week, sometimes several times in one day. The boiler and radiator have been broken for over a year without being fixed, so it’s absolutely freezing in winter. The walls and ceiling are paper thin, and you can hear everything, which will keep you up all night.

It was easy to get to both the airport and the city by public transport. The room was clean and tidy, fine for a couple of nights, though it was very warm and stuffy inside.

The living spaces were comfortable, and the facilities were good. The Allied student company responded quickly, and the surroundings felt safe, peaceful, and convenient. The location was great too.

The receptionist on our check-in day was lovely, kind, and helpful. The place was clean, and its facilities were better than those at some hotels costing twice as much. It’s not a luxury hotel, but I felt we got more than our money’s worth. The bed was really small for two people, and the pillows were too thin. I’m not counting that as a complaint, just something for future guests to know. We could get to the sea very easily, even late at night or early in the morning, because the place is so close to it. I’d been planning an Edinburgh trip for months, but nearly cancelled when I saw hotel prices. Then I found this affordable option. I was very happy with our stay.

Staff are always glad to help, and the rooms are nice and clean. There’s a kitchen where you can keep cold food and drinks. Morrisons is right next door, while Lidl and B&M are within walking distance. Several bus stops are less than a five-minute walk away, so getting into the city centre is easy.
