Gleneagles Townhouse

The team made us feel cared for from the moment we arrived. Everyone was warm and helpful, and they went well beyond what we expected to make the stay feel perfect. Gleneagles Townhouse is stunning, grand and full of character. The accommodation was amazing and the food delightful. I can’t imagine choosing anywhere else in Edinburgh, and we’ll definitely return.

We came to celebrate my partner’s birthday and had a perfect stay. The breakfast was divine, our room felt decadent, and the bar cocktails were delicious. Every staff member we met was delightful and went out of their way to help. They shared some of the building’s history as they showed us to our room, and gave us great tips for exploring the city. If we’re in Edinburgh again, we’d love to stay here.

A drink at Lamplighters on the roof was a lovely part of our visit. Our bartender Greg was sweet and really fun to chat with. My husband and I stayed a few nights and had such a good time. All the spaces are beautifully decorated and clearly well looked after, and the service was impeccable, from reception and the restaurant to the rooftop bar and everywhere else. Everyone made us feel so welcome. We can’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to return.

The one snag was housekeeping accidentally throwing away a couple of bags, including one with a comb. Reception couldn’t get it back or offer reimbursement when we contacted them. It was a small disappointment, though everything else about the stay was excellent. The old bank interior gives Gleneagles Townhouse a striking character, and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We also loved the food, especially the fresh, well-prepared breakfast. Having drinks beneath the old banking hall is a special experience.
