Hanover House Hotel

For a night or two, it’s okay if you just need a bed and the people sharing the downstairs toilet are considerate. We heard lots of creaking floorboards from upstairs, and there were smoke smells on the ground floor, especially in the shared bathroom. The other room using that bathroom kept leaving the toilet unflushed and similar messes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anyone working there to speak to face to face about it.

Breakfast was good, and the room itself was nice. We couldn’t hear anything from the other upstairs rooms, though the bathroom water pump was really loud. The TV downstairs was often blaring, apparently with nobody watching when I passed, but it was switched off at night. The tram stop is a short walk away, making it easy to get here from the airport, and the hotel isn’t out of the way for other places either. We had a good stay.

Jasmin was a delightful hostess who looked after us throughout, and the hospitality felt personal and gracious. That made this quaint, quiet hotel feel more like a bed and breakfast. Jasmin made the full Scottish breakfasts and other dishes to order. It’s in a good location, and I’d highly recommend it.

We stayed five nights on a quiet, pleasant street and could walk everywhere from the location. The room was spacious for three and everything was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast had plenty to choose from: eggs, toast, porridge, cereal, yogurt, sausage, bacon, haggis, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and tea. We had a lovely stay.
