The helpful staff were a few of the receptionists, especially Caitlin, who sorted us out when our room didn't even have blankets. The manager was rude and unhelpful throughout. There were other room problems too: the sink was clogged, the lights stopped working, and apparently there was no maintenance staff on weekends. Receptionists had to deal with maintenance issues themselves, which was unfair to them and reflects badly on management. I stayed at Heating Concept Hotels for four days, and it was one of my worst hotel experiences, especially for the price. Breakfast was £15 per person per night, but mostly consisted of fruit, cereal, yogurts and frozen food. Nowhere near worth it. The quality and service made the stay extremely overpriced. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it to anyone.

I enjoyed having a small kitchen and living room. After a long day sightseeing, I could come back, make dinner and relax on the sofa. We stayed two nights in April, and it was quiet at night, with a great location for walking around Edinburgh. Staff were helpful, and check-in and checkout on a tablet was convenient. A lovely Italian-sounding lady explained the process when we arrived.

The rooms were spacious and felt like home, with everything we needed. The staff were polite and helpful, and the hotel is in a great location. They even offered to keep our luggage after checkout, which was thoughtful since our flight wasn't until 8 p.m. It met all our needs, and I'd definitely stay again.

It's a nice building in a good location, but the operation felt amateur, and the staff were partly incompetent. We booked and paid for two rooms through Booking.com, but somehow that caused confusion. Our friends were assigned a room, then checked out while we were sightseeing, and their things were moved into the lobby. They got another room when we returned. At 10 p.m., front desk clerk Harriett came to our room with a Visa terminal and demanded another deposit. Ten minutes later she came back asking for a second deposit, one pound, supposedly for the room key or something. In fifty years of travelling, I've never had a hotel proprietor knock late at night asking for more payment. The manager apologized for the confusion the next morning, but didn't try to make it right. A one-hour late checkout would've cost another 25 pounds. Breakfast for 12.50 was pathetic: a banana, some yogurt that ran out if you didn't get there early, and stale croissants. There was a five-minute queue for coffee, with one person doing their best behind the counter but clearly understaffed. Stay somewhere else. Seriously.
