Hotel Indigo Edinburgh by IHG

The room was quiet apart from the air conditioning, and there were free snacks and drinks in the mini fridge. The shower was a good size, the location was good and staff were friendly. Those were the bright spots among quite a few small problems. The tap gave cloudy, lukewarm water even after I left it running to cool down. It also needed a lot of force to move and jerked in the direction I pushed, so it may need oiling. The TV did work, but sometimes took a full minute to respond to the remote. Hold the volume button and you might get blasted, along with the neighbours, a minute later. None of the smart TV features worked because it wasn't connected to the internet. A basic non-smart TV might be cheaper and work better. The milk at breakfast had gone bad, perhaps because it was left out too long without being changed. The bed was on wheels that didn't seem to lock, so it kept rolling away from the wall and leaving pillows to fall when leaning against the headrest. I had to push it back now and then. The kettle sits under two panes of glass that steam up, and some light switches looked pushed out of place.

A quiet part of town, but only about a ten-minute walk from the centre. The room was large and comfortable with everything you'd need, and breakfast was good. Friendly service too. Nothing to complain about.

There were some scratches from wear and tear, but this centrally located boutique hotel was still great value for money. They'd left a dog bed, bowls and treats for our dog, which was exceptional attention. The bathroom was lovely, with slippers, bathrobes, nice products and towels.

I had to leave early, but was told I'd still be charged for my scheduled stay, which was two nights longer than I planned to be there. I waited until that evening to check out, then caught a train to London. They wouldn't give me a receipt because they said something needed processing. What needed to be processed overnight? Now it's my scheduled departure day and I'm getting messages telling me to check out, even though I left two days ago. I'm waiting to see whether the billing was handled correctly, even for the scheduled stay.
