We got off to a great start, with an outstanding welcome from a really friendly receptionist. Room 204 was lovely, facing Princes Street with a castle view, and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel itself is lovely inside, and I’d stay again mainly because the location is so handy. But several things dragged my rating from five stars to three. Noise was ridiculous: doors slammed, waking us repeatedly, and toilet flushes, taps and showers sounded like they were coming through the walls. Some shower bottles were empty, apart from the shampoo. The main lights and the lamp didn’t work, only the bedside lamps, so we had to get ready with the curtains wide open, potentially visible from outside. I also asked about paying extra for a midday checkout since our flight wasn’t until 9:30 pm. A receptionist with long, possibly curly dark hair was unhelpful and, frankly, rude, saying late checkout wasn’t offered. That didn’t match my family member’s experience at this hotel just two weeks earlier, and she wasn’t a member.
The cream tea was lovely and everything tasted good, though nothing stood out as especially scrumptious. It was reasonably priced for a city-centre spot, and I’d go back and recommend a visit. We came for a family gathering and had cream tea in comfortable, homely surroundings, with lots of plants and walls covered in artwork. The setting felt very opulent. Staff were friendly and attentive. I only have a couple of photos to share because I took most of them with my camera.
We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were amazing, friendly, helpful and easy to chat with, while the room was comfortable and very clean. It’s right in the city centre with lots of transport options close by. We had breakfast and dinner included, and both meals were great. The inside decor is really cool too.
Breakfast was a highlight, with plenty of choice and hot dishes cooked fresh when ordered. The restaurant food was good too, and drinks at the bar arrived promptly with pleasant service. Hotel guests can often get a discount at the restaurant. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the station is only minutes away. Tram stops are close by as well.
Indigo and its staff turned a dreadful start to our trip around. We had a lovely stay, the room was just right, and everyone was very nice. The location was great too, and they made our time in Edinburgh memorable. My girlfriend booked Indigo after the awful welcome we'd had at Bonnie Hotel. Our room there smelled of sewage, and we felt the staff had been dishonest. I was still trying to get the refund Bonnie Hotel had promised, which I haven't received.
