We went to Edinburgh for a December city break and loved our stay at the Kimpton. Its location made it easy to walk to everything we wanted to visit. The hotel felt stylish and welcoming from the entrance through to the rooms, with a nice balance of comfort and elegance. Breakfast had plenty of choice and the food was high quality, and we enjoyed hanging out in the cosy but sophisticated bar and restaurant. The staff really made the trip easy. Everyone we met was friendly and professional, and requests were handled quickly. We also appreciated the little extras, especially the complimentary drinks hour from 5pm to 6pm. The handbag rental partnership was a fun touch we hadn’t come across at other hotels. One of our best city-break stays. We’d gladly return and recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

We picked this hotel for my partner’s 40th birthday, and the staff did so much to make the trip feel special. Everyone was lovely and helpful, and the little thoughtful touches made a difference. The room was lovely and well stocked, while breakfast was incredible and set us up well for a day exploring Edinburgh. The hotel and spa were both amazing. It’s in a nice, quiet spot near the edge of the city, yet only minutes from the sights. Everything about the visit felt perfect.

The noise was the main downside. The room doors are thin and very loud, and an industrial extractor fan outside runs loudly except between 11pm and 5am. Ask for an external-facing room. My ENT consultant always asks me to describe my tinnitus, and by coincidence I could record this fan for him because it sounds exactly the same. We’d come from the Intercontinental down the road, and the difference in hospitality was night and day. The welcome and personal service at check-in were excellent, especially from the man who checked us both in and out. The room was clean, comfortable, nicely decorated, and had thoughtful touches. The bathroom shower was good, and casting from my devices to the TV was easy. We enjoyed the spa, though the steam room was out of order and there was a queue for the sauna. Borrowing different wellness gadgets was a lovely extra. Most attractions are an easy walk away. The restaurant wasn’t to our taste, either for the food or the decor.

A special thanks to Miguel from the reservation team. He paid close attention to the details and made booking smooth and stress-free. The location also worked beautifully for everything we needed. We’re a family of four, two adults and two teenagers, and had a wonderful stay. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived, and were warm and professional every time we spoke with them. Breakfast was fresh, varied, and delicious, a great start to each day. We can’t recommend the hotel highly enough and will definitely come back.

We loved our three days here. All the staff were attentive and lovely, and we enjoyed the spa area. On arrival we were offered a drink at the bar, then the next day there was a bottle of bubbly in our room with a lovely card. We highly recommend the hotel.
