Market Street Hotel

Right beside Edinburgh Waverley Station, this hotel was especially handy for arriving by train. Edinburgh is easy to explore on foot, with the Royal Mile, Calton Hill, St Giles’ Cathedral, and Edinburgh Castle all within a comfortable walk. The hotel itself felt modern, clean, and well cared for, with spacious, comfortable rooms and a complimentary minibar stocked with a good selection. The staff were welcoming throughout. We didn’t get to try breakfast. In many ways, the experience compared well with several five-star hotels we stayed at on our Europe trip. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. A solid four-star hotel in a great location.

I’d certainly come back. The staff went out of their way to make my stay superb, and my room was clean and comfortable with a stunning view. The minibar was well stocked, and the Keurig coffee and tea were just right for a quick fix. The restaurant is on the seventh floor, where breakfast was nice and the city view lovely. Shops and restaurants are nearby, and Waverley Train Station is less than five minutes away. Thanks for a lovely stay!

This was my second stay, and it didn’t disappoint. The bed was so comfortable I slept like a log, and breakfast had all the usual buffet choices, including yoghurt, dried fruit and nuts, fresh fruit, cereals, bread, and pastries, plus cooked breakfasts and porridge. They even offered champagne with breakfast, which I couldn’t pass up. The waitress was lovely and remembered us from last time. Check-in was easy and came with a glass of champagne or a non-alcoholic option. The room was a nice temperature, with a working TV, good shower pressure, and lots of extras: slippers, robes, a hairdryer, complimentary minibar, tea, coffee, biscuits, a kettle, and a coffee machine. I think this is my new favourite Edinburgh hotel, and it’s so handy for Waverley and the Old Town. Highly recommended.

We had a great three-night stay in a “cozy” room, one of our favourites on our Scotland trip. The location made it easy to get to both Old Town and New Town, and the staff, including the restaurant team, were friendly. This was the only hotel on our trip with A/C. The minibar was free and had local canned cocktails, water, milk, and snacks. Some reviews call the beds uncomfortable. They do look unusually thin and minimal at first, but the TV explains why they’re very comfortable. I gave service 4/5 because some restaurant seating near reception could be made into proper lobby seating. After more than 18 hours of travel, there wasn’t anywhere to sit while waiting for the room. Luckily, the restaurant staff let us use a table without ordering since it wasn’t busy, and our room was ready early, which was a plus. We’d definitely return.
