Moxy Edinburgh Airport

The games, photo booth and shared spaces gave us something fun to do while waiting, and I loved the hotel’s modern decor and lively feel. The staff were consistently welcoming, friendly and helpful. Moxy is also an easy walk from the airport, which made it very convenient for an early flight or a layover. I had a comfortable, pleasant stay and would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay near the airport.

Breakfast starts at 06:00, which worked well for an early flight. It’s simple, but tasty, and the relaxed feel made the start of the journey less rushed. The parking fee seems questionable, though being right beside the airport probably means they’d have problems if they didn’t charge. Moxy Edinburgh Airport is an airport hotel that covers what you need, with bold purple and black decor and more of a stylish hangout feel than a standard stopover. The terminal is an easy walk, even with a couple of big bags, so there’s no shuttle to deal with.

During our stay, a car caught fire just outside the hotel’s back door. Smoke and carbon monoxide filled the rooms and we woke up breathing bad air, but the hotel didn’t evacuate us. Later we had to carry our bags a long way because the fire department had blocked some entrances. Even so, they charged us a large parking fee, higher than the advertised parking price. The room was visibly dirty, and the cleaning and hygiene standards seemed poor. Towels delivered for us were left on the toilet seat, among other unhygienic things we saw. I also got a line of red marks on my foot from bed bugs, according to my doctor, who said that pattern was typical. I was lucky not to get a worse infection. The restaurant food was terrible. The falafel seemed like a mix of older leftovers and fresher pieces, and the employees didn’t seem trained in basic skills or familiar with the products or how they were prepared. Other Moxy hotels we’ve visited offered a welcome drink, but this one didn’t. The advertised airport distance is misleading. You still need to take a bus for one stop, especially with luggage, or call a taxi.

The rooms were nice and clean, and we stayed one night before flying out of Edinburgh. The woman at the desk was not friendly at all and nearly refused us breakfast, even though we were booked under a titanium membership. A bearded man and another man with sleeve and One Piece tattoos were both pleasant and kind.
